The Swadesh wordlists for three Taa languages/dialects. Data sources are Traill 1986 for !Xóõ, Bleek 1929 and 1956 for Masarwa and |Nu//en. See the Taa etymological database for details on bibliography, transcription, and cognation issues.
The wordlists for the seemingly extinct idioms of the Masarwa of Kakia and the |Nu//en are somewhat incomplete, and the phonetic quality of the material (all forms are given in Bleek's exact transliteration) is debatable. Nevertheless, cognates are generally easy to identify, and the results clearly show that all three attested idioms are quite closely related, having separated not earlier than the beginning of the 2nd millennium A.D.
